Frequently asked questions

Everything people ask us

The answers below are valid as of 14 September 2026 and are updated whenever the collection changes.

What is Marquise Collection?

Marquise Collection is a French hotel collection brand founded in 2026. It brings together three and four star character hotels, each of which keeps its own name, building and decoration. The brand provides shared operating standards, a purchasing centre and joint distribution, without making the hotels look alike.

Why the name Marquise?

A marquise is the glass and iron canopy projecting above an entrance door, designed to shelter whoever arrives. The word therefore names the first shelter offered to a guest, before the threshold itself. It is also the subject of the brand's emblem.

Do hotels change their name when they join?

No. Each hotel keeps its name, its sign and its clientele. The brand signs underneath, in a second register. That is what distinguishes a collection brand from an integrated chain.

How many hotels are in the collection?

The collection currently brings together two hotels in the Loire Valley: the Hostellerie de l'Écu de Bretagne in Beaugency, thirty-two rooms rated three stars, and Le Relais Louis XI in Meung-sur-Loire. It is open to new members in France and then in Europe.

Where are the hotels?

The first two hotels are in the Loiret, in the Loire Valley, at Beaugency and Meung-sur-Loire, between Orléans and Blois. The collection is designed to welcome hotels in towns, in the countryside, by the sea and in the mountains.

What are the standards of a Marquise Collection hotel?

Bedding less than eight years old, full blackout and verified sound insulation, internet speed measured in the room, welcome products from the referenced range, breakfast including at least two identified local products, replies to guest reviews within five days. Each hotel also takes the materials and motifs of its own region into the headboard, the bed surround, the curtains and the framed pictures.

How do I book?

Booking is made directly with each hotel, from its page on this site. For a group, a seminar or a coach party, the request form on the contact page obtains a proposal covering the whole collection.

Is Marquise Collection a franchise?

No. Every hotel in the collection remains an independent house, run by its own owner, who sets the rates and runs the establishment as they see fit. The brand supplies neither the staff nor the management: it supplies a quality standard each hotel undertakes to meet, and which we verify.

Who is behind Marquise Collection?

The brand is held by a family group which operates hotels itself, not by an investment fund. The first two hotels of the collection are its own.
