The collection

Standardise what can be measured, leave free what is felt

A collection brand brings together hotels that keep their own name and character under a shared signature. Marquise Collection sets what must be identical from one hotel to the next, sleep, cleanliness and welcome, and leaves each hotel free on everything else.

A guest booking in a hotel of the collection knows what they will find: a recent mattress, a dark and quiet room, a connection that works from the bed, breakfast served at the stated time. They do not know what the room will look like, and that is deliberate.

Details taken from the place

In every hotel, four elements take the materials and motifs of the region: the headboard, the bed surround, the curtains and the framed pictures. At Beaugency it is the limestone of the Loire Valley and the engravings of the abbey church. Elsewhere it will be slate, vines, mountain timber or seaside linen.

This is not a themed decoration applied by a passing designer: these are objects chosen locally, from craftsmen of the region, and replaced by other objects from the same region when they wear out.

Why a collection rather than a chain

An integrated chain imposes a façade, furniture and a name. It reassures, but it erases what makes a guest return to one hotel rather than another. A simple label, conversely, offers a plaque and guarantees nothing.

A collection brand sits between the two: a contract, verified standards, shared services, and the name of the hotel still in first place. Marquise Collection applies that model to French three and four star hotels.
